TRASHION 2009     Back to Re-Arting Troy

It’s trash! It’s fashion and so much more. Trashion is a multimedia event which includes anyone wishing to stretch their creative spirit!  We're looking  for anyone who makes fashions out of cast off materials. And we spotlight those who have collections - more than 4 outfits. They show you that with a little imagination, used and discarded items can have a new life. You don't have to be rich to look fabulous!

2009 Designers Spotlight: Every year we spotlight the best creative designers in the area. If you think or know you are one - e-mail us. Designers may showcase 5 to 10 of their designs. The focus is on originality and the creative use of materials. Outfits can be everyday wear,  special event, such as evening or swim apparel, whimsical, or simply fantastic. Click on the pink box at left to see Trashion 2008 designers fashions. We'll be looking to spotlight 4 to 5 designers this year and you could be one of them. Simply drop us an e-mail and j-pegs samples of fashions that you do.....by March 20, 2009

2009 Designer's PLASTIC Challenge: Everyone is invited to participate in our designers challenge. Last year all designs were made out of paper. Click on the yellow box to see these fantastic outfits! This year it's a PLASTIC CHALLENGE. From laminates to film, plastic bags, clothing tags, sunglasses, cups, lids, bowls, records, fake nails, jellies, bottles of all sizes and shapes - this is just a small sample of this source material. So, e-mail us your intention to make a design,  materials and description. Designers may make 1, 2 or 3 fashions. The designers  mustbe 90% made of plastic. Undergarments may be used or word with the plastic design.

2009 TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE: We have a new category - INTERACTIVE fashions. These works may be illuminated, have a battery or motor element, or are in some way interactive.  If you like to get pulsated or electrified, then we want you!

COLLABORATION   -  We also invite individuals and businesses to drop off bulk plastic or other material leftover bulk items for FREE art making workshops at the Fulton Street Gallery and Saturday in March between noon and 4 pm.  Bring items that you've been saving, but don't quite know what to do with, stay the day and make something on site by yourself or team up with others or take something home that inspires you. Come back as often as you like. Make an outfit or two and strut your stuff at the ATRIUM  ARTS  GALA at the end of April.    Workshop Dates: March 14 & 28

Call for Models for the event - just e-mail us.
