The Fulton Street Art Gallery is a great place to volunteer!  Everyone is welcome - the retired, super busy, artists and non artist.

Whether you make art, like being around it, working with the public, selling jewelry in a gift shop or even teaching, FSG is a friendly and accessible gallery!  Each volunteer dedicates a 4 hour shift once or more per month. The FSG duties include sitting in the Gallery during opening hours, answering questions and discussing the current exhibits with gallery guests, and opening and closing the Gallery. Becoming a Fulton Street Gallery Volunteer is a wonderful opportunity to see a wide variety of art, meet new people, and help support the arts in the Capital Region. INTERNS! WE LOVE THEM! WE NEED THEM!

• Your school may award unit credit for work performed. Look into your school's community service programs.

Duties and Responsibilities: The internship requires a commitment of at least one full semester/quarter, two 4-hour shifts per week (Tuesday through Friday, noon to 4 pm or 4 to 8 pm. Availability is flexible during finals week, school holidays, and as class schedules change per semester/quarter.

Preferred skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, creativity, background in the arts or business management, ability to work with little supervision.

Role may include:

         - Introducing the public to the artworks on display.
         - Answer questions and offer direction to our guests.
         - Help at opening receptions for exhibitions; this includes some food service, set up and/or clean up, possible bar service.
         - Help with installation of art work.

          For students with web experience and accounting skills:

         - Layout & design for postcards & brochures.
         - Updating information on the FSG website.
         - Posting artwork on the on-line gallery Zen Cart.
         - Writing and e-mailing publicity and press releases
         - Writing and e-mailing a html members newsletter
