ALL ARTISTS & BUSINESSES are asked to please register on the Artists and Business REGISTRY A web page is developed on each artist and business when they register on the Fulton Street Gallery website. FSG is organizing RE-ARTING TROY and maintains the Re-Arting.org website.
All interested participants are encouraged to FSG at fultonstreetgallery@gmail.com ASAP with proposal ideas, finished projects and questions.
Finished art will be installed during the month of April, May, and June. If you have a great idea for this project and need a few months to complete it, please let us know - we'll work with you. It is important to us to have your input and community involvement.
ENTRY FORM: RE-ARTING: art from recycled materials
CRITERIA for all art considered for the Re-ARTING Project: All original art work done with a focus on conservation, either with the reusing of cast off materials, or the use of all natural materials, will be considered for temporary installation, either in-doors or outdoors, within the downtown area of Troy for the summer of 2009. There are numerous opportunities for participation, including sculpture, fashion, music, sound and video installation, banners, public seating, bus shelters, fountain and garden art. Work may be functional or non-functional, fine craft, clothing or fine art. Materials must be non-toxic. No size restrictions. This exhibition is part of a larger public art initiative. AWARDS: There will be three cash awards given for creative use of recycled materials
JUROR PANEL: art professionals and community members
ELIGIBILITY MEDIA: The exhibition is open to artists residing regionally, nationally and internationally who work in any media including video and sound.
PROCEDURE : Proposals are encouraged, however, they must be accompanied by supportive drawings and or j-pegs of previous work. All images must be supplied in j-peg or digital format. Entries may be submitted on-line through e-mail: fultonstreetgallery@gmail.com or mail CD and DVD to FSG at 408 Fulton Street Gallery, Troy NY 12180. Each artist may submit one view of up to five recent works. Sculptors may submit two views of each work. Images must represent work available for this exhibition. E-mail will be used for notification of acceptance.
TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS: Do not submit images on rewritable media. Use standard formats, such as jpg or tiff. J-peg entries of either 72 or 96 dpi in one e-mail, with all attached entries not to exceed one megabyte total, unzipped and uncompressed. Number the j-peg files and list the entries in the body of the e-mail with title, medium and dimensions, Include your full name, and all other information.
ENTRY FEE: A non-refundable registration fee of $25.00 non-member $20.00 member, will be charged to assist with exhibition costs. Please make checks payable to the Fulton Street Gallery and enclose with CD rom, Entry Form, and resume OR pay entry fee on-line through Paypal
DELIVERY OF WORK: There will be installation dates and delivery locations given to each artist that is selected to be part of RE-ARTING TROY. Some art work will be installed on the street in downtown Troy. Other artwork will be installed at the Atrium on 3rd Street, others at the Fulton Street Gallery and still others in businesses throughout Troy. Please keep in mind location when you enter this multi-faceted exhibit. We will work with you to ensure the best possible placement of your work.
LIABILITY:
All works will be insured during the exhibition dates. The Fulton Street Gallery does not assume responsibility for artwork while in transit or during return, only on the premises during the exhibition dates. The Downtown Troy Collaborative will insure works May through September, in outdoor locations throughout downtown Troy and at the Atrium. Submission of images for judging constitutes an agreement by the artist to the conditions of this prospectus. The Downtown Troy Collaborative and the Fulton Street Gallery reserves the right to use images of submitted works in the exhibition for use in any catalogue and for publicity. All reasonable care will be exercised in the handling of the works received.
REMOVAL OF WORK at Fulton Street Gallery: For works selected for exhibition at 408 Fulton Street, removal dates are from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on May 23 from 10:00am to 2:00 pm on May 24. FSG insurance coverage for unclaimed works will end at 5:00pm on May 24, 2009. For public works - removal will be in September, 2009. Artists will be notified 2 weeks prior to removal date.
