Why MEMBERSHIP with FSG?
• over the last 12 years, our exhibits have been consistently high in quality, diversity and innovation.
• exhibitions are not member limited, but open to any artist in the world.
• members whose work is selected for exhibition are exhibiting with highly respected peers.
• FSG is not profit driven. There is no censorship, no compromising.
• Exhibitions topics are chosen to provide perspectives on social, political and educational issues.
Benefits of Membership
• having a voice in gallery decisions, including exhibition themes and topics.
• exhibit opportunities of their art work in our on-line gallery and also in our gift shop
• receiving a profile page and a photo album of their artwork on the FSG website.
• showcase their skills through teaching classes or workshops at the gallery
• receive a higher percentag of commission on their sales
• a monthly html newsletter
• are eligible to exhibit in Membership shows
• receive reduced fees on juried shows
• 10% off on sales
• will have their name listed in the artist or supporters registry
• will have their websites linked to FSG.
MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
ACTIVE: $35 artist $25 student or senior
SUPPORTING: $35 student or senior $50 artist/individual $75 family
SPONSORSHIP: $100 business $150 donor $250 patron $500 benefactor $1000 visionary $2500 sustaining visionary
THERE IS a SLIDING COMMISSION RATE - the more active you are, the less commission on sales is taken by FSG
• Non membership - 60%/40%
• FSG Member: (no working hours) - 65%/45% (65% payable to the artist)
• Active FSG Member: (2 hours monthly or 4 every other month) - 70%/30% (70% payable to the artist)
• Associate FSG Member: (2 hours weekly) - 80%/20% ( 80% payable to the artist)
• Staff FSG Member: (4 hours weekly) - 90%/10% (90% payable to the artist)
WAYS to be INVOLVED with the FSG Gallery
• SITTERS: The gallery depends on volunteer members to keep the doors opened and all the information the "sitters" need to know is posted in the gallery. Sitters greet visitors, answer the phone, take a deposit on artwork in the current gallery exhibit and take full purchase price for the items in the Gallery Shop.
• EXHIBITION INSTALLATION: Hangings take place the Sunday before the exhibit opens. Part of installing is the making gallery labels, painting of gallery walls and pedestals and general cleaning.
• RECEPTIONS: Many local restaurants donate food to non-profits for their receptions. Contacting these establishments, picking up food, and serving refreshments during receptions.
• FUND RAISING & GRANT WRITING: There are many grants that FSG is eligible for, equipment, operating expenses and underwriting of exhibits.
• SUPPORTING EXHIBITING MEMBERS: Receive a 65% commission on work sold at FSG by supporting members. The gallery take a 35% sales commission of supporting members work that is exhibited and sold at FSG, at 408 Fulton Street, Troy, NY or in any off site exhibition that FSG sponsors. Supporting members members may live out of the area and may not have opportunities to be involved in FSG day to day activities.
• SPONSORS and PARTNERS: support the general operations of FSG which include artist awards, gallery site maintenance, exhibiting expenses, workshops and classes, publlicity, etc.
• Supporters and Partners may designate which FSG program they wish to support. These donations are tax deductible to the extent that the law allows.
